Shockwave Therapy Care

Therapist using shockwave therapy device on a patient's arm

What to Expect: It is normal to experience Mild to moderate soreness, tenderness, redness, or swelling in the treated area after shockwave therapy. These effects typically resolve within 24-72 hours, though some people may experience discomfort for a few days. Symptom improvement is often gradual and may continue over several weeks as the healing response progresses.

DO'S

  • DO stay hydrated
  • DO continue light, functional daily movement within your comfort tolerance.

DON'TS

  • CRUCIAL DON'T use ice or anti-inflammatory medications (Advil, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin) for 48 hours post-shockwave. These shut down the exact healing response the treatment created!
  • DON'T participate in high-impact or strenuous activities involving the treated area for at least 48 hours.
