Shockwave Therapy Care

Therapist using shockwave therapy device on a patient's arm

What to Expect: Mild to moderate soreness, tenderness, redness, or swelling in the treated area is normal after shockwave therapy. These effects typically resolve within 24-72 hours, though some people may experience discomfort for a few days. Noticeable changes and symptom improvement are often gradual, usually experienced around the third to fourth session, and may continue over several weeks as the healing response progresses.

DO'S

  • DO stay hydrated
  • DO continue light, functional daily movement within your comfort tolerance.

DON'TS

  • CRUCIAL DON'T use ice or anti-inflammatory medications (Advil, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin) for 48 hours post-shockwave. These shut down the healing response the treatment created.
  • DON'T participate in high-impact or strenuous activities involving the treated area for at least 48 hours.
