STEP 3 OF 3
IMS / Dry Needling Care
What to Expect: Muscle ache or soreness after IMS is common - similar to the feeling after a strenuous workout. You may also notice temporary tenderness, bruising, fatigue, or a feeling of heaviness in the treated muscles. These effects typically peak within the first 24 hours and improve over the next 24-72 hours. Many people notice a reduction in pain, improved mobility, and reduced muscle tension as the soreness subsides.
DO'S
- DO stay hydrated
- DO apply heat (heat pad or warm shower) to relieve muscle aching and encourage blood circulation.
- DO rest if you feel fatigued.
- DO perform light, gentle range-of-motion stretches as instructed by your physiotherapist.
DON'TS
- DON'T consume alcohol right after IMS treatment.
- DON'T engage in strenuous exercise or heavy lifting if your muscles are sore.
- DON'T stay sedentary. Prolonged inactivity elongates symptoms of stiffness and soreness.
