Randy Gao

Registered Physiotherapist

Randy completed both his Bachelor of Kinesiology and Master of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. During his undergraduate studies, he worked in a research lab developing wearable sensors to detect balance impairments, which provided him with a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and movement analysis. He also worked as a personal trainer and offered independent tutoring services for other aspiring Physical Therapy students. These experiences honed his ability to simplify complex physiological and anatomical concepts for clients of all backgrounds.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Randy has always led an active lifestyle. With a competitive background in rowing, Randy developed a deep appreciation for the importance of structured training and preventative care in injury prevention - insights he obtained from his own Physiotherapist. He is also an active runner and weightlifter.

Randy’s physiotherapy philosophy is rooted in empowerment. He believes that building physical literacy enables individuals to take ownership of their rehabilitation, leading to the most meaningful and long-lasting outcomes. His approach combines sport- and activity-specific exercises with manual therapy and education to reduce pain, optimize movement, and help clients feel confident in their bodies. Rather than simply treating the symptom, Randy aims to identify the underlying cause and help facilitate a return to the activities that matter most to the client.
