CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT

What is Chiropractic care?

Chiropractic therapy is a form of alternative medicine focusing on resolving musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions through adjustments, manual therapy, and rehabilitation exercises.

Ultimately, chiropractic treatment works to restore joint movement, normalize nerve function, and restore balance. These are all important factors in alleviating and preventing pain and dysfunction.

Chiropractic care is a non-invasive form of alternative medicine

When should I seek chiropractic care?

Though many people commonly seek chiropractic care mainly for spinal conditions, chiropractic treatments can also address extremity issues as well.

Beyond treating acute and subacute conditions, chiropractic treatment is highly beneficial in maintaining recovery and performance, meaning, one does not need to be in pain or injured to benefit from this service. Chiropractic care is often highly sought after to aid in recovery and optimize performance.

Many people also seek chiropractic care to work on and improve postural issues. For example, those sitting at a desk for prolonged periods find coming in for chiropractic treatment to be beneficial in supporting their lifestyle. Within the treatment, education is involved in each session on how to achieve long term benefits through exercises, postural re-education, and lifestyle changes so clients can continue doing what they love to do, pain free.

What to expect during a Chiropractic treatment

The main unique tool of a chiropractor is called a chiropractic adjustment, or manipulation. This involves an assessment of the range of motion in joints. If any joints are found to be restricted during the assessment, a small thrust is delivered to free up the range of motion at that restricted joint. This adjustment is a gentle nudge with a high velocity and low force. There may be a cracking or popping sound associated with the adjustment. This sound is simply the gas pressure being released at that joint.

What to expect at Therapy X

All the chiropractors at Therapy X are also able to incorporate the Graston Technique and shockwave therapy (if indicated) in treatments in addition to adjustments and manual therapy. Within each session, it is common that both the joints and muscles will be worked on as they do not function mutually exclusive from one another.

At Therapy X, we work in a highly collaborative fashion. Beyond chiropractic services, we also offer physiotherapy and massage therapy services as well. We see each client as a whole and utilize all the different services we can offer to generate the most efficient and effective treatment plan to get people back to their goals as soon as possible with long term benefits.

There may be some situations where someone comes in for a chiropractic treatment and after a thorough assessment by your chiropractor, it may be recommended that the client see a physiotherapist and/or massage therapist for a couple sessions to work on specific areas that a different service specializes in before finishing up their treatment plan with the chiropractor.

We are client-center focused at Therapy X and believe in working in a collaborative fashion to achieve the most effective results for our clients with the goal of long term healing in mind.

Let’s get your treatments started so you can get back to doing what you love to do, pain-free. Come in for an assessment and treatment with one of our experienced therapists at our Vancouver location. We look forward to meeting you!
